Sabathia traded to Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired CC Sabathia from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for four prospects. This trade definitely favors the present time and not the future for the Brewers. Since they had to place Jeff Suppan on the 15 day DL, they now have the room needed for Sabathia. Sabathia is set to become a free agent at the end of the season so we’ll have to see if the Brewers will resign him or not.

A-Rod ties Mantle on Home Run List

Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees hit home run number 536 tonight to tie Mickey Mantle on the all time home run list at 13th. He is now 12 home runs behind Mike Schmidt, who has 548.

Nadal beats Federer in Wimbledon Final

In the Wimbledon final today, Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer in a back and forth long five-set match. Nadal won 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7 which was the longest final in Wimbledon history. This loss was Federes’ first in 5 years at Wimbledon and stopped his win streak at 65.

Kyle Busch wins Coke Zero 400

Kyle Busch claimed the win at the Coke Zero 400 today at the Daytona International Speedway. Busch is currently the Sprint Cup Series points leader. He had been racing side by side with Carl Edwards with just over a lap left to go when an accident involving multiple cars started behind them. Due to this accident, everything was immediately frozen and everyone had to wait several minutes to resume.

- Jeff Gordon, with two laps to go, spun out on the restart.

Venus beats Serena in Wimbledon finals

Even though Venus’ younger sister, Serena had defeated her the last two times in the Wimbledon final, that didn’t stop Venus from taking the win today. Things didn’t look good for Venus at first since she was down 3-1 in the first set, but she turned it around and kept the momentum in her favor. Venus defeated her 7-5, 6-4 in the finals today to claim her fifth Wimbledon title and seventh Grand Slam championship.

Albert Pujols hits homerun #300

Albert Pujols of the St. Louis Cardinals became the fifth youngest player in MLB history to hit his 300th home run. The youngest person to ever accomplish this feat was Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees. Rodriuez was 27 years and 249 days old while Pujols is 28 years and 170 days old.

Federer moves on to reach final

Roger Federer defeated Marat Safin in straight sets (6-3, 7-6(3), 6-4) today. Federer is now only one win away from winning his sixth straight Wimbledon title, and 13th Grand Slam championship overall. Federer has yet to lose a set in the tournament. His opponent will be the winner of Rafael Nadal and Rainer Schuettler.

Arenas resigns with Wizards

Gilbert Arenas decided to resign with the Washington Wizards for six years, for $111 million dollars. Arenas had mentioned earlier to the Wizards that he would not resign unless they kept Antawn Jamsion as well, who was recently given a $50 million deal over four years.

An All Williams Wimbledon Final

Both Venus and Serena Williams move on in Wimbledon and will meet each other in the finals on Saturday. Neither of them have lost a set yet and that alone will make it an interesting final matchup. This will be their third meeting in the Wimbledon final. Serena has come out ahead in both of the previous meetings. Can she do it a third time?
