Damion Easley hit a homerun in the eighth inning against the Colorado Rockies to lift the Mets in a 2-1 win. The Mets have now won seven straight games. This was also the fourth straight game where they have kept their opponent to only three hits.

Moises Alou, left fields for the New York Mets, has a torn left hamstring which will end his season. This injury could possibly end his career as well. Surgery is not required but is recommended in order for Alou to have the best recovery. Unfortunately for Alou, he hasn’t played as much lately in the past seasons due to injuries. In fact, he hasn’t played more than 100 games in a season since 2005.

Tony Steward will be leaving the Joe Gibbs Racing team effective tomorrow. His replacement will be by the name of Joey Logano. He will be in the No. 20 car starting next season. Stewart will become an owner (with 50% of the share) and a driver at Haas CNC Racing.

Elton Brand decided to take more money and to leave the Clippers in the dust. He agreed to a new contract with the Philadelphia 76ers that will give him $82 million over the next five years ($16.4 million per year). The Clippers thought they were going to be able to turn things around, especially after signing Baron Davis, but now it looks as if their dreams are shattered once again.

Michael Vick, while currently in prison due to serving time for the federal dogfighting charges, filed for bankruptcy protection. Vick is saying that he owes somewhere between $10-50 million to creditors. Vicks’ debt partially includes part of his signing bonus in which the Atlanta Falcons are trying to recover.

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired CC Sabathia from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for four prospects. This trade definitely favors the present time and not the future for the Brewers. Since they had to place Jeff Suppan on the 15 day DL, they now have the room needed for Sabathia. Sabathia is set to become a free agent at the end of the season so we’ll have to see if the Brewers will resign him or not.

Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees hit home run number 536 tonight to tie Mickey Mantle on the all time home run list at 13th. He is now 12 home runs behind Mike Schmidt, who has 548.

In the Wimbledon final today, Rafael Nadal defeated Roger Federer in a back and forth long five-set match. Nadal won 6-4, 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-7 (8), 9-7 which was the longest final in Wimbledon history. This loss was Federes’ first in 5 years at Wimbledon and stopped his win streak at 65.

Kyle Busch claimed the win at the Coke Zero 400 today at the Daytona International Speedway. Busch is currently the Sprint Cup Series points leader. He had been racing side by side with Carl Edwards with just over a lap left to go when an accident involving multiple cars started behind them. Due to this accident, everything was immediately frozen and everyone had to wait several minutes to resume.

- Tony Stewart got sick and could not finish.
- Jeff Gordon, with two laps to go, spun out on the restart.
